Installation procedures for XFIT and FOURYA.

Manuals for both XFIT and FOURYA have been provided in MS Windows Word6 formats.

=== X-ray Line Profile Fitting Program, XFIT, Ver. 4.0 ===

To install XFIT do the following:

	i)   Make a directory called c:\xfit
	ii)  Copy xfit.zip, borlib.zip and pkunzip.exe to c:\xfit
	iii) Change directory to c:\xfit
	iv) Unzip the files xfit.zip and borlib.zip, i.e. 
		pkunzip xfit.zip
		pkunzip borlib.zip

Run the batch file install.bat. This moves the file ctl3d32.dll to \windows\system. An overwrite prompt is given if the file already exists. Do not overwrite if the file already exits. Note, ctl2d32.dll must be deleted from c:\xfit.

Make sure that Buffers in config.sys is set to at least 40.
XFIT requires the Win32s 32 bit operating system. If your system does not have Win32s then install it as described below.

The executable file XFIT.EXE is now ready to run using the Windows Run command. A manual XFIT.DOC in MS Windows Word6 format can be found in  the directory c:\xfit. 

Contact me if you would like XFIT to read file formats other than XDD formats.

To install XFIT into a path different from c:\xfit\, change c:\xfit\ in the steps above to new_path. After installation then search for c:\xfit\  in the file new_path\temdoc8.cpp and replace c:\xfit\ with new_path.

All Zip files can be deleted after installation.

=== Line Profile Fourier Analysis, FOURYA, Ver. 4.0 ===

To install FOURYA do the following:

	i)   Make a directory called c:\fourya
	ii)  Copy fourya.zip, borlib.zip and pkunzip.exe to c:\ fourya
	iii) Change directory to c:\ fourya
	iv) Unzip the files fourya.zip and borlib.zip, i.e. 
		pkunzip fourya.zip
		pkunzip borlib.zip

=== Installing Win32s - pw1118.exe ===

Only install if your system does not already have Win32s installed.

pw1118.exe has been obtained from the Microsoft internet site:

	http://www.csusm.edu/cwis/winworld/win32s.html

 Its installation is simple and is as follows:

	i)     Make a temporary directory temp_dir.
	ii)    Copy pw1118.exe to temp_dir. 
	iii)   Change to the temp_dir and run pw1118.exe. 
	iv)   Run this from DOS, pw1118.exe.
	       This creates w32s120.exe
	v)    Run this from DOS, w32s120.exe. 
	vi)   Type exit to get back from windows.
	vii)  Run \temp_dir \setup.exe from Windows/File/Run.
	viii) Install the example Win32s program FREECELL
	       when asked to do so.
	ix)   Check that config.sys has FILES and BUFFERS statements 
	       similar  to the following
		BUFFERS=40,0
		FILES=40
	x)   Exit Windows and Reboot.
 
Try running from Windows the example Win32s program FREECELL. If this works then XFIT and FOURYA should work.
