The macros in the file rely heavily upon the SelectTool() command that was implemented by Wayne in recent versions (at least v1.60) of NIH Image. The macro file was uploaded to the /pub/nih-image/contrib folder at zippy.nimh.nih.gov, although it will probably be moved to the /pub/nih-image/user-macros folder. The text of this file is also given below. You may recall that if a macro file with the name 'Image macros' exists in the NIH Image preferences folder (in the System Folder) or in the folder containing the NIH Image application, then it is loaded when NIH Image starts up (I'm not sure of the precedence if a macro with this name exists in both places). So, rename the macro file to 'Image macros' before using it. The Tools palette in NIH Image has two columns (toward the left and toward the right of the palette) of 10 tools. Using this set of macros, the tools on the left (from top to bottom) can be selected using the '0' through '9' keypad keys. Use these keys while simultaneously holding down the
