Installation of the Xcalibur-2
Day 3

First data

At the start of the third day we were able to examine the dataset that we had collected overnight from a test crystal. This shows just one of the image frames, displayed on the computer by the Crysalis control software.
Radiation safety
Mike Soucie (centre background) of the Environmental Health & Safety Office of Virginia Tech visited us to see the safety systems and interlocks demonstrated by the engineers.
Aligning the Cryojet
David Warner aligns the crystal under the Cryojet cooling system prior to the first low-temperature data collection.
Alignment
The crystal is mounted and the first low-temperature data collection is about to commence.
