Query on binders to afix powder samples to low background plates/zero background plates (and stubs) which do not give appreciable contribution to the diffraction pattern

Additions, comments, suggestions are appreciated

Hi Again,

An XRF person has just entered my office. The current favourite is Elvacite
(an acrylic resin - mix 10% in turpentine). Another option is PolyVinyl
Alcohol (PVA - mix powder in a water/ethanol)

Cheers again

Hi,

I don't recall ever using anything except ethanol or acetone to make a
slurry for use on ZBP's. However, I think the material you might be thinking
of is Methyl Methacrylate - the XRF guys use it as a pressed powder sample
binder. I will ask them later to discover their current favourite.

Cheers
