The February 2000 and later versions of Rietica allow you to do easy updates at the press of a button within the program and thus with the minimum of hassle.
To setup which internet site you wish to use (if one doesn't seem to be working, try another), go into File, Preferences, Internet and select the site you wish to routinely check for updates from. At the time of writing (4th Feb 2000), only the UK and ANSTO FTP sites were working with this method (HTTP was not usable via this updating method - next version will most likely allow this)
